your voice knows…
Your voice knows things about you that your conscious mind hasn't caught up to yet.
It knows when you're not being honest - with yourself or others.
It knows what you're afraid of.
It knows what wants to be expressed… but maybe hasn't found its way out yet.
For ten years, I kept my singing voice completely hidden. I'd check windows before making a sound. Turn the music up in the car loud enough that I couldn't even hear my own voice reflect back to me. Not because I had a "bad" voice, but because sharing that part of myself felt dangerous — like exposing something tender and fragile to a bitter wind.
Maybe you know this feeling. Not necessarily about singing, but about some part of yourself you've learned to keep hidden. The part that feels too much, too raw, too vulnerable to let out.
I've spent years studying voice from every angle I could find - pop, R&B, opera, ethnomusicology, fieldwork with master vocalists in Bali, Indonesia. And the most profound thing I learned wasn't in the technique, exercises or functional voice mechanics...
It's that your voice is you. Not a tool you use, but the literal incarnation of your spirit in sound.
What This Season Is Really About
For the past couple of years, I've been working on distilling everything I've learned about voice into something I could share with you. Not just the mechanics or the methods, but the deeper truth about what voice reveals - about ourselves, about our emotions, about our spirit, and how it connects us to something greater than ourselves... and I've created a home for it: The Wisdom of the Voice podcast, season one.
This series weaves together personal stories from my own journey - including some of the most vulnerable moments - with science, somatic awareness, and the spiritual dimensions of voice. I've put my heart and soul into these six episodes.
Here's what we'll explore together:
🚀 Episode 1: Space Suits and Sun Burns
Why "finding your voice" feels impossible to define, and how silencing your truth literally changes how you sound. We'll look at the moments that taught us to hide and what it means to take off the space suit
🪨 Episode 2: The Weight of Being Heard
How to distinguish your truth from all the other voices you carry. When there's so much noise - both external and internal - how do you hear The Voice That Knows?
🏰 Episode 3: Building a Blanket Fort for Your Voice
The three layers of safety your voice needs to open. This is about creating sanctuary - with yourself, with others, and in the world.
🍞 Episode 4: Following the Breadcrumbs
The intersection of voice and truth. How to anchor yourself to your own knowing in an authority-focused world that leaves little space to reflect.
📚 Episode 5: Your Voice Already Knows
How emotion is the root of all vocal technique. Why your body already knows how to create the sounds you're reaching for - and how to access that wisdom.
✨ Episode 6: Making the Invisible Visible
How metaphor becomes the bridge between spirit and sound. Working with what you can't see to create tangible transformation.
This Isn't About Performing or Perfecting
This season bridges the functional and the spiritual, the scientific and the felt. It's about understanding your voice not as something separate from you that needs to be fixed or improved, but as the most intimate expression of who you are.
When you tend to your voice - when you create safety for it, listen to it, honour what it's trying to tell you - everything shifts. Your relationships. Your creative expression. Your sense of yourself. Your ability to trust your truth.
This is about coming home to yourself through sound.
All six episodes of Season one drop on October 15th.
I invite you to subscribe wherever you listen to podcasts, and join me for this journey.
