consistent creativity
Consistent creativity starts with showing up. By scheduling the time. And committing to it.
Committing to creative time is a bold act of committing to ourselves.
We are creation, and therefore, by creating, we are fulfilling our nature, our inherent purpose, whether or not we share it, whether or not it gets tossed in the garbage, whether or not we feel proud of our creation. The point is, to feel proud of ourselves for showing up, and deciding to be “enough” in the moment, to take the time for ourselves, when a thousand other niggling tasks lay at our feet, begging for our attention. This is our chance to give ourselves the message that we DO matter, and we ARE worthy of time, attention, and space.
Consistent creativity is space.
It is a way to move through space, by way of intention and presence.
So, how do we implement this simple, but ever-resistance-filled habit?
We start small.
Try scheduling 15 minutes of space to write, improvise, draw, sing, play, design, speak… whatever your form of creation, whatever your creative language may be… just make a 15 minute block for it. That’s it. Put it in your calendar. Set a timer. Follow through.
The more you follow through on this, the more integrity you build with yourself.
Your self says, “oh, you actually meant it? Oh… you really actually meant it! What? You meant it again?!”
And that self might stop trying to talk you out of it so convincingly.
Consistent creativity adds up.
It becomes a project, a book, a painting, a course, a song, a purpose.
It becomes a way of life.
Ps: This was my 15 minutes… what will yours be?
